As the mausoleum of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, and his empress, Ming Xiaoling is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It established the architectural pattern for later imperial tombs in the Ming and Qing dynasties, featuring elegant natural scenery and grand royal design.

Key Highlights

（1）Stone Elephant Road (Sacred Way)
The most iconic view of Nanjing. Lined with stone sculptures of elephants, lions, camels, horses and mythical creatures over 600 years old, it creates a peaceful, photogenic path through the mountains.

（2）Sifangcheng (Stele Pavilion)
A massive square tower housing the Shengong Shengde Stele, which records the life and achievements of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang. It is one of the largest stone steles in the Ming Dynasty.

（3）Stele Hall with “Zhilong Tangsong” Inscription
Inside stands a stone stele inscribed by the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, praising that the emperor’s governance “surpassed that of the Tang and Song dynasties.”

（4）Hall of Worship Remains
The original main hall was destroyed, but its huge stone platforms still show the magnificent scale of early Ming royal architecture.

（5）Square City & Bright Tower (Treasure Top)
The highest point of the mausoleum. From the top, visitors enjoy a panoramic view of the entire tomb area. Behind it is the sealed burial mound where the emperor and empress rest.

The symbolic entrance of the mausoleum, engraved with the words “Universal Love” in Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s own handwriting.

A classic three-arched gate with the inscription “The World is for All”, representing Dr. Sun’s lifelong ideals.

（3）392 Stone Steps
The stairway symbolizes the 392 million Chinese people at that time. When looking up, only steps are visible; when looking down, only platforms appear — a unique and meaningful design.

（4）Memorial Hall & Burial Chamber
Inside the memorial hall stands a seated statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The burial chamber contains a white marble reclining statue, where visitors can pay their respects in a quiet atmosphere.

（5）Panoramic View of Purple Mountain
From the top platform, visitors overlook the lush forest of Purple Mountain and the beautiful skyline of Nanjing.
